My research is focused political communication and social media. My doctoral dissertation was an examination of state-focused political blogs around the United States and an analysis of their impact in various state capitals.
Projects I’m currently working on include:
- A detailed analysis of emerging community-oriented hyperlocal media operations around the United States
- A survey of current graduate students in journalism and mass communication and their satisfaction with graduate education
- A study of media coverage of the United States Supreme Court and determinants of that coverage
- An assessment of the dynamics of issue emergence in the social media context
- A discussion about the role of social media in American politics and media coverage thereof
- A series of case studies in public diplomacy
